Mike Higgins - Founder & President
Mike Higgins founded Events Northwest in June of 2002 after a 18 year career in sports marketing, and local tourism marketing.
Higgins most recent position prior to founding Events Northwest was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Portland’s 20,000 seat outdoor baseball/soccer and multipurpose venue, PGE Park. Higgins also served as General Manager for the Portland Beavers, triple A baseball team, affiliate of the San Diego Padres. During this four year tenure, Higgins oversaw the successful winning of the exclusive right to negotiate the public private partnership between the city and the parks owners for the re-development of (then) Civic Stadium, in addition he spearheaded the purchase of the triple A baseball franchise and “A League” soccer franchise which were required by the City in the deal. Higgins was also integral in securing the initial sponsorships that backed the City’s revenue bonds that were vital in completing the financing for the renovation. These partnerships included the record breaking naming rights sponsorship with Portland General Electric to rename the stadium, PGE Park.
Prior to his career with the Portland Beavers, Higgins oversaw minor league baseball franchises in the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies minor league organizations. He also served as the chief marketing offical for the popular “Sternwheeler Columbia Gorge” and “Crystal Dolphin” cruise yacht.
Higgins is a proud father of three lovely daughters, Kylie, Madison and Halle.
